Katinka was born in the USA and holds a degree in International Economics (m.c.l.) and an executive management certificate from INSEAD. She resumed her career as a corporate consultant for a leading consulting company in Chicago. In the early nineties, she relocated to Germany to work at Deutsche Bank AG (Head Office) in Frankfurt.  During the next decade, Katinka worked as a strategist in international corporate banking before being promoted to staff advisor to the executive board member for multinational corporations (MNCs). As an expert for strategic corporate communication, she managed two restructuring processes and a merger with a large UK-based investment bank. 

After having a family, Katinka worked as a freelance corporate consultant  & trainer with a focus on post-merger integration and change processes. She has published various articles, is a public speaker and moderator of discussion panels. In 2007, she joined her client State Street Corporation as VP Corporate Communications Europe and built their European strategic communications function.
